When JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, starring Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, stops at the Orpheum Theatre April 22 - 27, you'll notice that this beloved production offers some great surprises, one of which is Joseph's incredible Dreamcoat.

If you're not familiar with the story, JOSEPH is the fun, family-friendly musical adaptation of the Biblical story of Joseph.  Early on in the tale, Jacob, Joseph's father, gives him a beautiful coat - much to the envy of Joseph's eleven brothers, spurring them into some epic acts of sibling rivalry.  So, needless to say, the Dreamcoat has to be pretty spectacular.  And it is!
Jennifer Caprio's design for Joseph's Dreamcoat

Costume designer Jennifer Caprio was influenced by a Marc Chagall stained glass installation at the Abbell Synagogue located in the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.  The artwork consists of 12 windows, one for each of the Twelve Tribes of Israel or, more literally, one for each of Jacob's sons.  Caprio was inspired to incorporate a stained glass look into the coat's tapestry, creating 12 panels with each color representing a different brother.  Because Joseph and his brothers have a presence in the design of the coat, it becomes much more than a part of the show: "it's an overarching symbol of love and family," Caprio said.

We won't give anything away, but let's just say that the coat makes an even bigger impression in finale, so make sure to get your tickets today and see this amazing Dreamcoat first-hand!

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLR DREAMCOAT plays at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN April 22 - 27.  Tickets are on sale now.
